New: Quantum S5
Battery powered. Thatcham S5. Knows who is driving.
The Quantum S5 is a battery-powered stolen vehicle tracker with an Automatic Driver Recognition (ADR) tag. The tag is what takes it to the Thatcham S5 category, and our UK recovery specialists watch over it 24 hours a day.
Tracking performance depends on GPS signal and network availability, and may be limited underground or in shielded locations.

Driver recognition, without the wires
Over 50 years in vehicle security
Quantum S5 is made by Scorpion Automotive, designing and building vehicle security in Chorley since 1973.
An ADR tag, not just a tracker
Movement without your tag is flagged straight away, so a relayed or cloned key is not enough for a thief.
Up to 3 years per set of batteries
Two user-replaceable AA lithium batteries power it for up to three years at the standard update setting, in good conditions.
Built for vehicles that stand still
Two settings that suit stored vehicles
Choose how often it checks in while parked, and when it should be armed.
Position updates while parked
On a journey it reports at the start, a few minutes in and when you park. While the vehicle is stationary you choose how often it confirms where it is:
- Every hour
- Every 4 hours
- Every 8 hours
- Every 24 hours (standard)
More frequent check-ins use more battery, so pick the interval that matches how the vehicle is used.
Arming schedules
Set it to arm and disarm automatically on chosen days and times, so it is on guard when the vehicle is normally parked and quiet when it is normally in use.
A van parked up each night, or a motorhome laid up for the winter, gets protection that runs itself, with fewer false alerts.
The S5 difference
How the ADR driver tag works
The tag is checked separately from the vehicle key.
1. Carry the tag
The ADR tag is supplied with the tracker. Keep it with you like a house key.
2. Journey recognised
When the tag is present, the tracker treats the journey as yours.
3. No tag, alert
If the vehicle moves without the tag, it raises an alert with our recovery team.
4. We call you
The team contacts you to confirm whether the vehicle has been taken.
What you get

FAQ
Common questions
What does the ADR tag do?
It confirms the right driver is present. If the vehicle moves without the tag, the movement is treated as unauthorised and our recovery team is alerted.
Does the Quantum S5 need wiring into the vehicle?
No. It runs from its own batteries, so it works on vehicles with no permanent power supply, including caravans, trailers, plant and boats.
How long do the batteries last?
Up to three years on two AA lithium batteries at the standard 24 hour update setting, under good conditions. Frequent journeys, weak signal, alerts and more frequent position updates shorten that, and you get an email when they run low.
What happens if my vehicle is stolen?
Once you confirm the theft and give a police crime reference number, our UK recovery team uses the tracker’s position data and works directly with the police to recover the vehicle.
Is S5 better than S7?
They are different Thatcham categories rather than a ranking. S5 adds driver identification, which some insurers ask for. Check which category your policy names.
What if I lose the tag?
Tell us as soon as you notice, so we can arrange a replacement and avoid unnecessary alerts.
